Do you have a lot and still feel empty?

Have you ever set your intention of clearing out your closet to make more space?  You give trash bag upon trash bag away only to discover that your closet is still full.  Does this just happen to me?

Over the last few weeks, I’ve spent some time cleaning and clearing space in my home.  As I went through my closet, I realized that I have so many (too many) clothes.  Every year I do this.  I give trash bags of clothes and shoes away and I still have a ton left over.

As I sat there looking at all the things I have – clothes, shoes, scarves, purses, jewellery – I was thinking…. I still need a white dress for a photo shoot.  I could do with a new pair of sneakers for the gym…and it dawned on me that even with an overflowing closet, I still think that I do not have enough.

How is this feeling of not having enough showing up in other areas of my life?

One area where this not enoughness (yup, I just made that word up) kept showing up for me was with money.  I felt as though no matter how hard I worked, there never seemed to be enough money in my bank account.

How did I handle this?  I worked more.  I attained more degrees and certifications.  I created a business.  I took classes and hired coaches to learn how to make more money…and, I did.  However, no matter how much money I made, those feelings of not having enough money kept showing up for me.  As soon as I received money, POOF, like magic it was gone.

Surely, I had a lesson to learn.

One of the things that I teach in my premium programme is that when the same things keep showing up, there is a lesson to learn.

As I stared into my overflowing closet, I realized that I had to work on me.  That which I was seeking in my outer world was a reflection of what I needed to work on in my inner world.  The truth was I did not yet feel as though I was enough!

BINGO!  Now that I was aware of what my lesson was, I could work on creating new thoughts, new words and new actions to create new habits and replace this limiting belief.

I am changing my mindset about me.

I am learning to believe that I am enough.  I do enough.  I love enough.  I work enough.  I have more than enough.  I dig really deep to write a list of ways that I am enough in my gratitude journal every single day.   I look around at all that I have and, I give thanks.  I am reading books and surrounding myself with empowering words and pictures.  I am working on creating a more loving relationship with me!

Oprah sums it up with her words, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more.  If you concentrate on what you do not have, you will never, ever have enough.”

That which you seek, is already within you.  It goes far deeper than tangible things.  Start with knowing that you are enough.  Say these words, I am enough.  Say it again. Believe it.  Act as though it is so.
