Live as if you’ll die tomorrow

If you have ever tried to discover your purpose you have probably heard the phrase, ” What would you do if you didn’t have to worry about money?”

Unlimited resources to live life on your own terms. To do what you love, the freedom to travel and probably the courage to say goodbye to the 9 to 5.

What would you do? Have you ever considered it? I think people get stuck here, primarily because they are unable to stretch their imagination to a what if state of mind. They just don’t think they will ever find themselves in a position to have an abundant financial outlook.

I thought I would flip the switch and ask, ” What would you do if you knew you were going to die?”

It seems like someone is dying every day, long before what we thought should have been their time. Just recently television star and bonafide bad boy, Luke Perry, from one of my favourite drama’s Beverly Hill’s 90210 passed away at the age of 52 as a result of a stroke. Life is not promised

“DREAM AS IF YOU’LL LIVE FOREVER. LIVE AS IF YOU’LL DIE TOMORROW.”

One thing that I know, I do not want to die with regret. Regret can be like a plague that follows you wherever you go because deep down inside you know you missed an opportunity thereby making the wrong choice.

If you died tonight, would you regret not living your life purpose?

So let’s look at purpose. Purpose to me is my donation to society. It is how I use my life to intentionally contribute to life. I don’t think a person is born knowing their purpose I feel as if it evolves through your life experiences.

My life purpose statement:
To raise children who are productive members of society through the contribution of their time and talents. To help purpose minded women achieve their goals and create the freedom to live life on their own terms.

If you had to create a life statement what would that look like to you? What do you believe is your contribution to society?

“PERHAPS THIS IS THE MOMENT FOR WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN CREATED. ESTHER 4:14”

I want to share with you four reasons why we don’t pursue our purpose. If you are a purpose-minded woman I encourage you to weigh each reason and decide if you will keep allowing it to be your excuse or will you take action?

1. TIME
You make time for what you deem important. If you don’t have time to work on your goals, dreams, and aspirations I would say they aren’t important enough to you. Action step: Consider if this is something you really want and value. If you deem your dreams valuable how could it change your life?

2. MONEY
There is never enough time or money, right? Money hinders us from living in the now because we think everything has to be grandiose. I like to remind myself of Zechariah 4:10, ” Do not despise the day of small beginnings.”

Often when people want to start a new business or project they look at spending money on external things that really won’t matter right away.

You don’t necessarily need a website, business cards, or a storefront to start your business.

Action step: Consider lean principles. What value can you provide on limited resources? Sometimes this may mean purely just word of mouth. It may mean the bartering of services. Did you know Amazon started as an online bookstore, now they have everything from A-Z. Money is not an issue.

3. CLARITY
There has probably been no time in history where information overload has been so prevalent. It has created a multi-passionate purposed filled people who still have no idea what they want.

Action step: Ask yourself an honest question of what you do want most in this life? Then begin to work toward it.

4. KNOWLEDGE
Mahatma Gandhi said,” Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever.”

Get what you need, don’t wait for it to come to you.

Action step: How can you get the knowledge you need? Is additional knowledge required? Check yourself against your fears. Do you really need more information or is impostor syndrome showing up in your life? Are you making excuses for your non-action?

Whatever you want to do in this life you are enough. Get out there and just do it, even if it means doing it scared because YOLO.
