Lentil burgers are packed with protein (because, well people think vegans don’t get protein because they don’t eat meat). Delicious meaty texture, wholesome and quick to make. Perfect for a transitioning vegan , and kids will absolutely love them. Here’s how we make them–the Asali Catering way!
Ingredients :
1 cup lentils
1 1/2 cup mushrooms
1/2 cup onions
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 cup all purpose flour (chickpeas flour for gluten free option)
1 tsp black pepper
1tsp sea salt
1 tsp basil
1 tsp cayenne chilli pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp parsley
1 tbsp liquid smoke (optional)
Instructions:
1. Boil lentils in 3 cups of water for 15-20 minutes . Chop up mushrooms and onions and sauté them for 4-5 minutes.
2. Once lentils and mushrooms are cooked and both to a bowl and add seasonings oats and half of the flour.
3. Blend till you get a nice paste texture.
4. Shape into Patties , if baking grease pan and bake for 10 minutes.
Frying, coat your patties in flour and fry each side for 3-4 minutes.
