Becoming a nurse doesn’t mean simply working in a hospital anymore as there are a plethora of opportunities awaiting both males and females who want to follow this career path. This coming from current President of the Bermuda Nurses Association, Karen Grant-Simmons as Nurses Month kicks off May 1.

There are nurse educators, psychiatric nurses and travel nurses, so nursing does not mean that you are solely tending to someone in the hospital, she adds.

In this video interview with www.SheHUB.tv, Mrs Grant-Simmons discusses the attributes every nurse should possess, scholarship opportunities for aspiring Bermudian nurses, and how nursing’s latest trend is pulling more nurses away from traditional jobs.

Mrs. Grant-Simmons also offers this advice to anyone who is considering a career in nursing: “If you are someone who enjoys helping others, is empathetic and a critical thinker…we need you so please come forward.”

If you would like to learn more about the nursing field, register for the women-only golf tournament, Gals, Golfing and Giving Back tournament on Sunday, 21 May at Belmont Hills Golf Course or support any of the events taking place during Nurses Month, click here.
