Are you comfortable with your style?

I was recently at an event and watched the lady in front of me shift from one leg to another. It was so obvious that her feet were killing her, but I guess the shoes looked too good with the outfit for her to pass up. We have all been there where our style was more important than our comfort until the next morning when our feet hit the floor and the needles rush to our head from the pain in our feet.

The examples are endless and can give us all a little giggle. Pants too small so when we sit down which results in our butts hanging out–but it looked good when we left home!

I smile at sight, and to be honest there isn’t much I haven’t done to look cute no matter how uncomfortable I was.

Feeling comfortable in your clothes goes a long way to feeling confident and put together. Here are five tips to loving your style in comfort.

  • Do the ‘sit test’ before leaving the shop. This way you won’t be tempted to wear those cute pants because the look good but must spend the night standing to avoid showing unwanted skin

  • Know your body type. Just because your best friend can wear it doesn’t mean you can or should. Look in your closet and try things on. What feels good on your body?  Chances are the most comfortable clothes fit and flatter your body type. No this doesn’t mean you should spend your life in leggings and sweats

  • Fabric plays a huge part in comfort. Do you like natural fabric or synthetics?  Some fabrics irritate your skin or even make you perspire easily. Finding what works or doesn’t work for you is all about trial and error. Just remember comfort is key if you don’t feel comfortable in your clothes you won’t look comfortable no matter how cute you think your outfit is

  • A good old cleaning of the closet. Just do it!  Throw it away. We buy things, wear them once and never again. This is because we haven’t connected with the items, too tight, too baggy, too short, feels uncomfortable. Just get rid of it! The things left will help you realize what you really love and feels right. It like getting rid of any old boyfriend. Just be done with it

  • Find that stores that works for you. If you can find a few boutiques that have your style of clothing stick with them. If it  isn’t broke don’t fix it. Get to know the staff and build a bond; this way they will get to know you and if they give good customer service they will keep you updated on the items that you love.

Looking good means being comfortable in your clothes and not ending with your shoes in your hands by the end of the night. Stay within in your limits, know your body type and realize what works for someone else may not work for you.
