Are you ready to make your health a priority?

Did you promise yourself that you would commit to making your health your priority in 2019? Did you promise to eat healthier, get more rest, drink more water and exercise regularly? You are not alone.
If you have not lived up to your expectations, do not be too hard on yourself. We all fall off the health wagon. What is most important is that you create ways to hop back on.

We have so many distractions coming at us that we all need reminders to make our well-being our priority. Here’s why. As a society, we’ve changed. Our culture has changed from one of being aware and in tune with what our bodies need (think of our grandparents or great grandparents, they always seemed to be aware of what we needed to feel better), to a generation that depends on stimulants to wake up, sleeping pills to go to sleep, and prescriptions to make it through the day.

We have not made our health our priority because we’ve stopped listening to our bodies. We’ve become more concerned with what is happening around us that we are no longer in touch with what is happening within us. Our need to climb what society has deemed the ladder of success has caused us to go, go, go.

As a busy, professional woman, you may be caring for your family while holding down a full-time job. You may have several projects. Your to-do-list is never ending. Stress has become your norm. You feel overworked, overstretched and overwhelmed. You are neglecting your body by eating foods that are not real and not getting enough sleep. You are dehydrated and sedentary because you are attached to your T.V., computer, and/or phone.

This may be your story now, however, you can change. You can write a new chapter. You can make you your priority. You can live a healthier life. Here’s how.

6 ways to be healthier and feel better.

Eat more greens. Greens boost your immune system, energy levels, and mood.
Get more sleep. Sleep will restore and rejuvenate your body. Turn off the T.V. Darken your room. Put your phone at least three feet from your bed.
Stay hydrated. Drink more water. Every cell in your body depends on water to function effectively. Drink water as soon as you wake up and often throughout the day. Set timers on your phone as reminders.
Exercise consistently. Our bodies are not designed to sit for long periods of time. Commit to move as often as possible in addition to your exercise routine. Exercise also boosts your energy levels and mood.
Incorporate a self-care routine. Self-care is taking ownership of your health and happiness. It involves caring for yourself, identifying what you need to feel balanced, listening to your body, and treating yourself with kindness and love.
Make your health goals non-negotiable. Decide that you are going to make your health your priority NO MATTER WHAT. When you have the will, you will create a way.

Your health is in your hands. You are the only one who is in control your health. It is up to you to be proactive and take your health into your hands. Only you can change your health habits. This requires action. Don’t wait until there is a crisis to make your health your priority.

Working hard to make more money to do what you want is all for naught, if you are not well enough to enjoy it. Living is about enjoying life now, not working hard to enjoy life later.
